About

Professional and affirming.

Life is a journey. But there are GAPS.  From time to time our pathway is interrupted. Physical injury, wrong-turns and pain disrupt our plans and intentions and keep us from doing what is important to us. A great author once said that the key to living a full life was…” To finish the moment, to find the journey’s end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours…”A healthy life is in the doing . And sometimes in the doing, things get broken & so do people. Promises, hearts, hopes, dreams, & even life’s possibilities can be broken. Brokenness is a GAP between what is & what could be.  GAPs are filled with pain, activity impairment, disappointment, uncertainty & fear. Brokenness is experienced physically, mentally, emotionally & socially. The greatest gaps in an active lifestyle are due to injuries to the musculoskeletal system.

Neuro-muscular-skeletal- disorders (NMSD)s:  Nerve, muscle and joint pain, strains and sprain.

  • The number one cause of disability and the number one cost in health care.
  • NMSDs  create the gaps in your journey because they create pain and limit your abilities
  • NMSDs are movement based problems.

Gaps in your journey are lengthened by the application of an…

Old Medical Approach:

  • The  biomedical model:  A  model of illness used in most Western healthcare settings..
  • a doctrine that all illness and disease is attributable to a specific, physiological cause.
  • The body is viewed  as a machine: that that has to be fixed.
  • In NMSDs that means bed rest, a pill,  X-rays, MRI, a brace, a shot or a surgery.

The gaps can be reduced by a…

In favor of action, process, and change.

New Medical Approach:

  • Bio-psycho-social-ecological model: a model of injury and pain that is influenced by…
  • Biological Factors: genetics, tissue damage, inflammation,  biomechanics of movement,  the part of the body injured and how movements effect pain and activity.
  • Psychological Factors: Personality, beliefs, the meaning give to one’s pain, emotions,  experiences and by the perception of how injury effects our lives.
  • Social/Environmental Factors: Culture, family, socioeconomic status, environment , stress and by the people, places, tasks and actions that influence the pain.
  • Ecological science: The study of how human motion and function are products of the interaction of an individual performing a task in a specific environment. This approach recognizes that neither the person nor his or her health condition can be fully understood without viewing human function as part of a dynamic system in which all (i.e., people, health conditions, task and the environment) are integral parts.

New Possibilities:

  • The magic to recovery lies not only in the power of medicine, but in the bodies innate ability to heal.
  • A body designed to grow and adapt.
  • A body that is designed for change and resilience.

A treatment approach that…

  • Stimulates the normal healing processes.
  • Alters and  removes the abnormal stressors that hinder it.
  • Facilitates the return of normal motion, coordination, stability, balance and strength.
  • Recognizes that the way you move, the tasks and activities you perform and the environments you work, play and compete in effect your injury.
  • Recognizes that injuries and loss of abilities affects the way you feel…stress, anxiety, depression.

At PróMotion…

It hurt whenever I tried to raise my arm or move it away from my body. I was unable to sleep on my right side. I was unable to do resistive exercises which were ordinary part of my regular home routine.

I can now sleep on my right side again. I can raise my arm above my head with little discomfort. The staff here at PróMotion is exceptional, well-trained and excels in proficiency. The facility is the best equipped facility I have ever seen.

Immediately after my knee surgery I was concerned about walking any distance, climbing stairs, and sleeping without pain. After just a few therapy sessions walking became easier and stair climbing became such that I did not have to concentrate and it was much easier. Now 2 months after surgery and 8 therapy sessions at PróMotion under my belt all walking and climbing is natural and easy as well as fun.

The staff has been awesome! I’ve never fractured any bone so I didn’t know what to expect as far as healing & PT. It has gone better than I anticipated. I was challenged by the staff and believe that is why I have progressed so quickly.

You guys rock, but…I hope the next time I see you, it’s in the grocery store! 🙂

I had a total knee replacement on my left knee in April and on my right knee in October. Laurie Kreuz and Kim Welton were invaluable to my progress. Not only did they help me with my functional needs, but they also helped me on a personal level when I was frustrated or in pain.

The staff at PróMotion Physical Therapy and Functional Fitness are kind, friendly and demonstrated genuine care and concern for me during my recovery.

When I first came to PróMotion, I was starting to put some weight on my left foot and ankle after several weeks in a cast and a boot. I had little strength and balance for daily tasks and the movement of my ankle was very limited.

I’ve gained back my regular movement and greatly increased rotation and flexion. Once the final hardware causing further issues is removed. I look forward to a full recovery with the help of PróMotion.

After my knee surgery, I couldn’t extend or bend my knee all the way I was unable to squat down without pain. Even going down the stairs was a challenge.

Under the fantastic guidance of Laurie and Kim, I was able to rebuild muscle mass in my leg. The extremely supportive environment paired with an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff made my weekly appointments something I look forward to.

When I came to PróMotion I was in a lot of pain and had loss of motion. After the evaluation, the game plan was NO SURGERY!

I would like to thank you and your team for helping me bring my shoulder back. I will never go anywhere else for my physical therapy needs. At the doctor, I requested you by name and will again.

With having knee replacements on both knees and a total ankle replacement, PróMotion has been helping me about 2 years.

They have been wonderful helping to get through the recovery and rebuilding the muscles and joints. Thank you PróMotion and Kristen and T for all your help.

You are good people and have become good friends. Thank you.

When I first came to PróMotion, I had so much pain in my upper leg and hip I could not walk and keep my balance.

After Strengthening exercises, I am much more confident I don’t choose my cane. I have begun to run again (level only) and I am better enjoying my children and grandchildren. I am looking forward to Spring and Summer so that I can renew my gardening hobby.

Thank you Laurie and Kim!
